“Life moves pretty fast. You don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

We finally made it to Hollywood Forever Cemetery for one of the last Cinespia screenings of the year… (drumroll please) Ferris Bueller’s Day Off!  ‘Cause, you know, LA gets cold and you can’t host outside events in the winter. The bad thing about popular events like this is that you’ve got to get there super early. Which means you pack a picnic (baguette et fromage, pasta salad, fruit salad, reese’s cups, & wine) and enjoy the scene- it’s the closest you’re going to get to a drive-in in LA, that’s for sure.

Edie McClurg (Grace, the secretary) showed up beforehand and was reminiscing on “stage” about John Hughes and filming the movie. Which was great until it was clear she had already downed some champagne and kept repeating in her fabulous midwestern accent, “I know, I know, you want to watch the movie, just one more…”

The other excellent thing about Hollywood Forever was watching the almost-full moon make its way across the sky behind the screen. You could almost see a few stars, too. Almost.
